dilemma

A dilemma arises when neither of two choices is satisfactory. In moral philosophy, an ethical dilemma occurs when each choice is morally binding--when one can perform neither both actions nor only one and remain moral. The critical practice of deconstruction often exposes dilemmas that occur in texts; such a moment of doubt in which knowlege and moral action come to a crisis is sometimes called an aporia.
