Conscious of the ease with which her work can be at once praised and dismissed by mainstream deconstructive critics, Spivak "supplements" her argument by extending her "deconstructive embrace" to three texts from the critical mainstream: Claire Nouvet's 1991 article "The Impossible Response: The Disaster of Narcissus," André Green's Narcissism of Life, Narcissism of Death, and Samuel Weber's The Legend of Freud, to further elaborate her argument.
