In Spring 2009, the Writing Center staff was chosen as the Student Employee Team of the Year. We are grateful to Career Development and Student Services for the recognition, and especially to our supporters for making our success possible.
Team Winner: The UHM Writing Center is the Student Employee Team of the Year 2009. They were nominated by Dr. Erica-Reynolds Clayton, Assistant Professor of English & Director of the Writing Center. Team members include: Anjoli Roy, Nicole Sawa, Mei Li Siaw, Amanda Cole, Becky Plas, Aiko Yamashiro, and Amy Goodman-Bide.
On October 27, 2008, Ka Leo o Hawai‘i featured an article about the Writing Center:
The Writing Center has recently undergone a renaissance, changing its name from “The Writing Workshop” to the current “Mānoa Writing Center.” The center also moved from Kuykendall Hall to Sinclair Library, equipping itself with new computers, reference books, cubicles for private consultations and comfortable furniture.
Despite these changes, the center remains steadfast in its mission.
“We seek to make students better writers on a more holistic level,” said director Dr. Erica Clayton. ”Our goal is not to necessarily proofread papers or to help people succeed in college writing, but to help them become better writers in general and thus better in the workplace.”
Many thanks to Ka Leo o Hawai‘i and the Center for Career Development and Student Employment for granting the use of their logos.
