Jim Henry has published on autoethnographic accounts of workplace writing (College Composition and Communication), writing across the curriculum (College English), technical writing pedagogy (Technical Communication Quarterly), contributory expertise in collaborative writing (Technical Communication), workplace ghostwriting (Journal of Business and Technical Communication), and (collaboratively, with Linda Brodkey) on voice in response to student writing (A Rhetoric of Doing, SIUP). He is a reviewer for JBTC, TCQ, and BCQ and a Consulting Reader for CCC.

As Director of Composition, he melds his passion for progressive pedagogy with administrative tasks that include coordinating the regular teaching of first year composition by all faculty in the department. Research grounded in this unique approach among R1 universities addresses the discursive practices and traditions invoked in English and in Hawai'i to prepare discourse workers in a globalized era.
