eidos

Meaning "idea" or "aspect," eidos is one of the four "ways of being responsible" in Heidegger's model of causality based on Greek concepts; the "chaliceness" of the chalice is an example of eidos (see page 291). The term returns later in the essay in Heidegger's explanation of the history of the concept of "essence" (see page 312).
