Lois-Ann Yamanaka is one of Hawai`i's best-known literary writers. Her most recent novel, from Farrar Straus Giroux, is Blu's Hanging. A play based on her novel Wild Meat and Bully Burgers, also from Farrar Straus Giroux, was produced by Kumu Kahua in 1997. Her book of poems Saturday Night at the Pahala Theatre, is available from Bamboo Ridge. She is the fall 1998 visiting writer in the University of Hawai`i at Manoa English Department Creative Writing Program.
